Napoleon coming to Duncan
Victoria based Cree/Dene singer-songwriter Art Napoleon will be doing two shows at the Duncan Garage Showroom on Sunday October 7th. The first show at 2 PM is a cross-cultural family show for the young at heart and will include songs from an upcoming children’s CD. This show has been described as funny, interactive and educational. Come and see why Napoleon is in demand at schools and children’s festivals throughout the west. Chanting lessons, ancient stories and jamming to round-dance rhythms anyone?
"playful rapport & interaction with students"
"real sense of dignity & respect"
"the best First Nations performer I’ve seen in years"
— Comments from BC Artstarts Showcase
The second show is a 7 PM concert for the general public featuring original bilingual songs from his CD Miyoskamin, an album fusing Aboriginal songs with the sounds of bluegrass, roots-rock and country blues. Nominated in 2007 for both a Canadian Aboriginal Music Award and Native American Music Award, Napoleon will be joined on stage by Duncan bassist Martyn Jones.
