Music
"Napoleon’s original roots music takes you on a wonderful journey…a soundscape of Aboriginal heartbeats and rhythms fusing the best of both worlds."
— Elaine Bomberry, Rez Blues, Vancouver
Miyoskamin
“A potent distillation of First Nations rhythms and chants with that high lonesome northern Canadian country/folk sound”
— Stuart Derdyn, the Province, Vancouver
Described by Monday Magazine as “good music for both cowboys and Indians”, Napoleon’s second CD is available through www.pacificmusic.net catalog # PM21195. Guests on the bilingual disc include Sandy Scofield and Marty Jones on harmony vocals, fiddler Calvin Cairns (Triska), Frank Tobin (Spirit of the West) and blues troubadour Ken Hamm.
Miyoskamin has been nominated for several Canadian and international music awards and was one of the top played albums on the CBC Galaxy Folk/Roots channel in 2006.
Outta the woods
Art’s first full-length CD is a blend of country and rock influenced roots music that incorporates tribal chants and rhythms. Napoleon experimented with a full band sound using only one other primary musician. It was recorded in the dead of winter at Moberly Sound Studio, a tiny one room shack in remote Northern BC.
Listeners who appreciate the soulful folk-roots music of Bill Miller or the earthy sounds of Kashtin will like this recording from the trap line.
